The Glow That Cannot Be Bought
On mindfulness, inner peace, and spiritual radiance.
There is a glow that no serum can bottle, no luxury brand can sell, and no mirror can fully capture. Some people spend a lifetime chasing beauty, only to discover that the most radiant glow comes from within.
Have you ever met someone whose presence felt brighter than their appearance? Someone who walked into a room carrying a softness that no cosmetic product could replicate?
Spiritual radiance is the glow that emerges from deep within the soul.
It has no requirement for material possessions or worldly status. It does not depend on monetary power, external validation, or any superficial means of appearing brighter than you truly feel.
I remember experiencing my own spiritual glow after crossing the thresholds of my shadows.
“You look different.”
“There is a change in your aura.”
“It is so soothing to just hear you speak.”
I cannot begin to count the number of times I heard these words from people around me. It was music to my ears, knowing that I carried a luminosity that felt deeply authentic and ethereal.
Yet this radiance comes at a price.
It shatters illusions—about people, about beliefs we have long carried, and even about ourselves. There may be moments when you feel suspended in the grey, as though time itself has slowed to a standstill. But that is often where transformation begins. It is within those uncertain spaces that the soul starts to shine.
During my spiritual awakening, three illusions quietly dissolved. Through each of them, I began to see life through an entirely different lens. Shadow work became one of my greatest teachers.
Illusion of People
The first illusion I had to release was my perception of people.
The ones I believed were my chosen family. The ones I thought wished the best for me. The ones I assumed would remain by my side when life became difficult.
Without much hesitation, I eventually went on what I call a ‘people detox’ — something that proved healthier for my soul than I could have imagined.
Every soul we encounter becomes a chapter in our blueprint. Each arrives with a purpose, and each has a designated time before their departure. Some leave quietly. Others leave behind lessons so profound that their absence echoes through us for years.
I have experienced my share of grief-stricken goodbyes. The emptiness left behind by those we once imagined would remain forever takes time to soften.
One day, however, I stopped focusing on the void they left and began appreciating the lessons they gifted me. I learned the art of honouring my emotions without becoming attached in unhealthy ways. I learned that every ending carries a silver lining, and it was this shift in perspective that nurtured my inner glow.
Illusion of Triumphs
The second illusion I questioned was the belief that happiness is equivalent to achievement.
For a long time, I assumed fulfilment would arrive through milestones, accomplishments, and external victories. Yet I gradually realised that my happiness did not require validation from outside sources.
My goals were mine alone. My achievements did not need to impress anyone else in order to hold value.
It dawned upon me that victories do not have to be larger than life. Every small step shapes us. Every quiet success deserves acknowledgment. My self-worth is inherent and not dependent on what I accomplish.
From that moment onward, gratitude became a daily practice.
I learned to appreciate both the visible and invisible blessings that guided my path. I celebrated effort as much as outcome. I took pride in showing up for myself regardless of the scale of my triumphs.
And somewhere along the way, I discovered that gratitude carries a radiance of its own.
Illusion of Easy Healing
The final illusion—and perhaps the most challenging of all—was the belief that healing is linear.
The deepest forms of inner radiance are often born through difficult journeys. Healing rarely arrives in a straight line. It resembles a winding mountain trail, filled with unexpected turns and hidden valleys.
There were times when I believed I had completely healed, only to find myself revisiting old wounds from a new perspective.
My healing journey has been nothing short of a labyrinth.
I have stumbled. I have broken apart more than once. Yet I never stopped exploring the unexplored corners of my soul.
Those experiences transformed my understanding of healing. I learned to welcome the process with openness, patience, and faith. I became more receptive to the paths illuminated by divine guidance.
Gradually, things that once triggered anxiety no longer held the same power over me. Healing did not make me fearless. It made me gentler with myself.
I learned to focus on what was within my control while trusting the rest to unfold as it was meant to.
Shadow & Light
At first, shadow work terrified me.
It felt like standing at the bottom of an immense ocean while powerful waves crashed against every part of my being. There were moments when I doubted my own strength. Moments when I questioned whether I could break free from old patterns, painful memories, and limiting beliefs.
But I discovered something important:
Every one of us is far stronger than we imagine.
Change is the only constant in life. And where there is darkness, there is also light.
My spiritual glow comes from striving to become a better human being each day. It comes from embracing growth, honouring my shadows, and allowing myself to evolve.
And once I stopped fighting the waves and learned to move with them, all became calm. All became bright.
Spiritual radiance appears the moment you stop searching for it and start becoming yourself.

I really liked that you put it in the context of the three illusions. It gave the piece a definite development and I especially liked the last line: ‘Spiritual radiance appears as soon as you cease to seek it and begin to be yourself.’
Great piece Komal! 🖤✨🖤
’Every soul we encounter becomes a chapter in our blueprint.’ What a beautiful and compassionate way to see the end of relationships. Shifting from feelings of loss to gratitude for the lessons learned truly reflects deep spiritual growth.
